CITY TOUR
Welcome and Bienvenidos to Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, and often referred to the “Paris of South America”.
The best thing to discover a city for the first time before exploring it by yourself is a guided tour in your mother language – and even better (optional) a private tour, without the hustle of being bothered or the feel interrupting someone else.
No loudspeakers, no rush, where you can ask a lot of questions and hear funny or tragic stories. Special Buenos Aires invites you to discover the beauty and wonders of an amazing metropolis.
Starting where everything began: La Boca, the colourful neighbourhood with its historical port, where the first Italian immigrants arrived, its artists, cafés and shops along the Caminito and not to forget the most famous football club Boca Juniors.
From there we will see the sights of the Spanish colonial district San Telmo, a more traditional and most charming barrio where Tango performances can be seen in many bars and restaurants. San Telmo’s current bohemian character stands out at the antique fair held in its most popular place, Plaza Dorrego.
Next stop: Plaza de Mayo, the main square where Buenos Aires was successfully founded and grew outwards from. Several of the city's major landmarks are located around the Plaza: the Cabildo (the city council during the colonial era), the Casa Rosada (The Pink House), where the president and executive government go around their daily business, and once upon a time, the Perónsgave their famous speeches from its balcony, as well as the Catedral Metropolitana de Buenos Aires, a fantastic work of religious architecture, and last resting place of Argentina’s independence hero, General San Martín.
Connecting Plaza de Mayo with the Plaza de Congreso is one of the most renowned boulevards often compared with those of Madrid, Barcelona and Paris due of its sophisticated buildings of Art Nouveau and Neoclassic: the Avenida de Mayo.
Reaching the world’s widest avenue the Avenida 9 de Julio with its illustrious monuments like the French Embassy, the sublime Teatro Colón, the Obelisk and the statue ofDon Quixote.
Taking the Alcorta Avenue on our way to the rose gardens and lakes of the Palermo Forest, we will perceive the Patio Bullrich, the Palais de Glace, the Law Faculty, and the residential neighbourhood of Palermo Chico.
Returning by Libertador Avenue we will come across the Monument of the Spanish, the Zoological Garden, the German Square, the National Library, and the National Fine Arts Museum, among many others.
Our final stop will be Recoleta, the wealthy northern area of the city, surrounded by posh mansions, green squares and boutiques. Ending our visit at one of the world’s most incredible cemeteries, where many of Argentine rich and famous lies in their private mausoleums with Eva Perón leading the way. |
